Family Connect Day
Community & Social Programs

Family Connect Day is a cornerstone community program by Kenyans in Queensland (KIQ), designed to strengthen family bonds and nurture a sense of belonging among Kenyan families living in Queensland.
This program provides a relaxed, inclusive, and family-friendly environment where parents, children, and extended family members can come together, connect, and build meaningful relationships beyond day-to-day routines.
Family Connect Day recognises that strong families are the foundation of a strong community. Through shared experiences, informal conversations, and intergenerational interaction, the program creates space for families to reconnect, support one another, and celebrate community values.

Why It Matters
Living away from home can sometimes lead to isolation, especially for families navigating work, education, and settlement challenges. Family Connect Day helps bridge this gap by:
Promoting strong family relationships
Encouraging social support networks
Supporting positive parenting and community wellbeing
Creating a sense of home away from home
Program Frequency
Family Connect Day may be held periodically throughout the year, depending on community needs and availability, and may take different formats such as picnics, park days, activity days, or community halls gatherings.
